Bad at Birthdays | Vancitychic Turns 2!

Usually when i hit milestone I try to throw a bit of a party but all summer I’ve been working 6 days a week and this week has been an absolute mess. We had a fantastic power outage (aka prety much a blackout) where my apartment lost power for a solid 30+ hours mixed with the fact that it feels like it’s -5 degrees in Vancouver right now. I had fully planned to make cupcakes, or at least pick one up, yesterday but silly me fell asleep instead because constantly exhausted and got nothing done. So instead of a super cute post I’m going to post this photo of me in sweat eating cookie dough ice cream out of the tub like an adult. So happy birthday Vancitychic, I’ll be sure to throw you more a birthday bash on my next day off!

Fall To-Do List: 2014

Last year I made a fall to-do list, which I must say I failed miserably, and I thought it would be fun to make this a little tradition and give you guys another one this year (even though this post is terribly delayed, seriously where has October gone?!). I think I may start doing these for ever season to keep me from lying in bed all day.

Rewatch all of the Halloween movies: Last year I just a had the Halloweentowns on the list, this year I’m not going to name drop but I’m going to try to add in as many as possible.

Grab my favourite seasonal treats: Salted caramel hot chocolate, pecan pie clif bars, and orange Oreos. Get at me.

Quit Diet Coke: I’ve been posting about this a lot so you shouldn’t be shocked but by the end of the season I want that junk completely out of my system. For good.

Start baking again: I was a big baker when I lived at home but due to lack of kitchen I’ve definitely fallen out of it, I’ve only made one real dessert (besides remade cookies) all summer. With the weather getting uglier it’s the perfect time to take it up again and start up the habit. If only I didn’t live alone so I wouldn’t also be the one eating everyone I plan on cooking…

Keep up with school: October is by far the craziest month for me when it comes to classes so I really need to buckle down and make sure I get shit done this time so I don’t completely screw myself over. Seriously though, 3 midterms and 2 papers this week? I can’t.

Save: I know I haven’t even celebrated my 20th (Thursday is so close!) but I’ve already planned my 21st birthday trip so now I just to stick to my savings plan and make it work!

Post More: I know I’m crazy busy but I feel terrible that I haven’t posted a video on their of my YouTube channels since before the summer and find my posts here less frequent than I want them to be. I’m going to actively try to be at least slightly more present online, although I do tweet all the time so be sure to check me out there. And as always tweet me if you have any requests for me!

That’s all for now! Hopefully I’ll remember to do and update come winter and then give you another little bucketlist for that season. Is there anything specific you’re hoping to achieve this autumn? Feel free to let me know in the comments!

Happy Birthday Vancitychic!

Photo on 14-09-16 at 7.39 PM #2

Crazy to think a year ago today I made my first post on here introducing this blog as a side project for a publishing class I was enrolled it. Now here I am, just renewed my domain for another year. I wanted to say a big thank you to everyone who’s stuck around with me through 3 semesters, 3 moves, way too much online shopping, and a hell of a lot of change. Hopefully you aren’t sick of me, and I’d love to hear what else you guys want to see from me! Also I promise I was planning on taking a super professional cupcake photo with a 1 birthday candle and all, but then I burned the cupcakes and all the dollar stores were closed by the time I got out of class. Oops.

Confession of a Diet Coke-a-holic

Okay team, I have a problem. Last year, around this time actually, I was in a publishing class that made me track a habit of mine. If you’ve been around for forever you would remember that I tracked my Diet Coke consumption. If you thought it was bad then I regret to inform you that it only went downhill from there. This past summer the mix of working full time and dollar drinks at McDonald’s resulted in me averaging about 3 litres a day of the beautiful concoction that is Diet Coke. It wasn’t until I started counting how many I drank (I lost count at about 75 mid-July) that I realized I had a full blown addiction. So this fall I’ve decided to face this addiction head on and completely quit Diet Coke, except for Diet Coke nail polish of course because that stuff is fab. I’ve decided blog readers are nosey and I love to talk about myself the only logical way to approach this is to constantly update y’all on how it’s going.

My Last Bottle
My Last Bottle

So here’s part one of the journey. The photo above is the last 2 litre bottle in my fridge that I’m letting myself finish off. I’ll be sure to keep this as up to date as possible as it goes on, I don’t have high hopes for this. As of right now I’ve already cut it out besides maybe one small glass a day and I’m the most tired, which I’m pretty sure is also because I’ve started working out again for the first time in months. I’m hoping this’ll get better as I replace it with water but I’m moderately terrified. Wish me luck?
