Let me start this off by saying this is the second time I’m writing so I’m the most sorry if I leave out bits and pieces, sometimes WordPress is not my bff. I’ve spent the first few days of 2015 stuck in bed with terrible stomach pain so I thought it would be the perfect opportunity to catch up on some blogging. For the past 2 weeks I’ve been in the Okanagan with my family doing all those cheesy Christmasy things you would assume one would do when they’re home with friends (and a car) for the first time in 6 months. I thought the easiest way to walk y’all through my vacation is to show you some of the things I posted on Instagram and some photos my mom took and give you little captions to go with them.

I was lucky enough to get to work while I was at home and I must say it was a nice change of pace. I’m used to work at one of the busiest malls in the country so being able to work at a smaller store located downtown was a walk in the park. The staff there was also super accepting of me joining in for the holidays and made me feel right at home.

I also look full advantage of eating at my favourite local restaurants when I got home. Not only did I get to have the infamous spicy fries from the donair shop just a few stops down from work but went to Cora twice and got the fantastic eggs benedict with a massive pile of fruit on the side.

For Christmas Eve we went to a family friend’s house for a night full of my mom’s fantastic spinach dip, homemade punch, and the most amazing authentic perogies I’ve ever had in my life. We didn’t get any fantastic photos (trying to get drunk people to take non-burry photos is a struggle) but these are a few family photos we managed to capture. Also my brother let me drive his car home that night, meaning I got to learn how to drive standard! I was pretty proud, managed to stop twice without stalling the whole way home (yay me). The dress I wore was originally bought for a special occasion and was determined to get more than one wear out of it. It’s the Sparkle Eve from Tobi and it’s pretty comfy for being entirely sequins, I do suggest going down a size if you do decide to pick it up though since I bought the medium first and had to exchange it. Also check out how super cool my brother’s ugly Christmas sweater was, so stylish.

Flash forward to Christmas morning. Obviously it was started out with mimosas. Because a holiday isn’t really a holiday if champagne isn’t involved. ChristmasMorningBrrad

Another photos of my brother and I being goofs, since my mom always insists we smile for photos when you’re both still half asleep and looking homeless.

Once again another shot of food. I was very happy to have (once again) eggs benedict for Christmas morning as well as a full turkey dinner for Christmas dinner.

Also looks at this dog. She’s such an old lump but that doesn’t stop her from taking part in the present opening.

My mom and I also got our DIY on with some Pintrest iinspiredmelting snowman cookies, which I think turned out pretty great.

And although we didn’t get a real white Christmas, which I must say I was super disappointed about, we did get a good dump of snow the weekend after Christmas so I can’t be too mad. Also can we talk about how pretty my mom’s view is when it’s covered in fresh snow?

I also managed to catch up with some of my best friends from high school which was great, received some fantastic gifts (which I’ll hopefully eventually make a video about) and managed to catch up on my sleep which I desperately needed. So I hope all of you guys had an equally fantastic holiday and an even happier New Year’s Eve. Happy 2015!
